a little habitat, a little hang out, some work and lots of friends...

This past weekend was absolutely exhausting! I'm still recovering. Don't get me wrong, I have the greatest job in the world, but sometimes it can just be exhausting! Like on a normal day, I spend the majority of my time visiting and working with clients on how to help their business through advertising! It is the BEST!
So on to this past weekend. I did the copy editing for the upcoming month's issue which means spending the weekend working. Our Portico Habitat for Humanity day got moved to Saturday and since my sis is head of community service, I had to be there.

This is Keysha, a fellow Porticoian. She is having a little trouble keeping the board straight as she nails each nail in...

Our pal, Charlie, is lending a helping hand.

Here is Keysha and I working super hard learning the fine art of caulking!

Here we are again... Working hard!

This is the brother-in-law, Dave! He is at his prime here!

These are the Ratcliffs! Check out that team work!

Some of the Fuller ladies taking a break from the sun. Their work spot was in direct sun and it was extremely hot! Good work girls!

Me with my sista! She did a great job organizing this shin-dig!

Me and Adam--- dude makes the strangest faces...

Hungry workers enjoying a classic worksite meal-- sandwiches!

here are some wonderful Porticoians! True servants here!

I told these boys that they should pose. Well this is what I got. Should we be concerned? Intervention necessary....

Now we move one to work. I went straight to work after I left Habitat. We worked really hard and encountered a few complications, but overall a smooth production. Cassie and I stayed to send the pages to the printer. We found all kinds of things to amuse ourselves. We went down and toured the pre-press and press as it was printing Sunday's paper. We also found some markers and thoroughly entertained ourselves! Here are some pics to prove it....

Cassie-- busted snoozin on the job!

This is me "working"

Sarah + Cassie + marker + exhaustion= SPIDEY!!!!!

This is Cassie. Do you think she was tired? I gave her that tatoo... Her husband should appreciate it!

HELP! We were ready for those pages to move a little faster... Or maybe we are just CRAZY.....

Alrighty, I have yet to catch up on my rest and I am still awake- smart! I'm out!
Hey Grandma Rose!
I sure hope you feel better!

Garbage Sale time!

So yesterday as I was driving to Tennessee, I decided I should photograph my horrible hair. Why? I have no clue, except that I am a complete loser! The pic is below...

Did I mention a bird decided that it would take a nose dive into my windshield? WELL, the poor little fella bounced a few times and flew off... That definitely pushes my total of bird murders with my car to over 20... Oh bless them! They are going to get me one day! Oh and these fools... I am not sure if you can see them. Man/woman motorcycle team. They were wearing Viking helmets. I honestly don't think these bad boys are safe. I was pulling into a gas station for a break and the attendants were baffled by these fools! People are just strange!

Ok back to the story... the garbage sale today has been fun but exhausting! Grandma Rose has worked so hard! She had everything priced before I got here! Crazy girl! She is one of the few people I know who absolutely loves a Garbage Sale! She is so funny! I have enjoyed hanging out with her today, and I'm sure tomorrow will be just as interesting... Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure!

This is me and Grandma Rose working hard...

This is my mother modeling some of the merchandise we are offering. This necklace is an art piece won by John at our latest 5k. I'll sell it to you for 50cents! Any takers?!?!

This is a view of the carport... See anything you want? I'll sell it to you! Name the price!

These are the most ugliest flower ever and Grandma had this one bush of them. UGH hydrangeas!!!!

We had to end our first day of the sale early because of this! It looked so terrifying! I don't think I could deal with this scary weather as often as they do.

Luckily I made it home safe and sound to mom and dad's house... yep that is it! HUGE!

Tomorrow we are Garbage sale-ing until noon and then figuring out what to do with all of the Garbage. Tomorrow night, a party at the Kirklands'! Fun weekend!

Lightening Bugs!

I was driving to Tennessee tonight and as I was watching the sunset realizing how beautiful it is... it really is one of the beauties of this world that we take for granted and it happens every single day!
After the sun set, the sides of the road were covered in lightening bugs! When I was a little girl, I used to go with Emma and John to our grandparents house during the summer for a visit. Both sets of our grandparents live here in Tennessee. My dad's parents, known as Grandma Rose and Granddaddy, live in the city. Granddaddy passed away a few years ago and Grandma Rose still lives in that house, in fact we are having a garbage sale tomorrow. My mom's parents, known as Grandmommy and Daddy Del, lived outside the city limits heading out of town. It was a small blue house with a wonderful porch and a huge yard (like 1acre). At their house, we used to go outside right after the sun went down and catch as many lightening bugs as we could fit into a jar! Grandmommy would put Aluminum foil on top of the jar and we would get to poke holes in the foil to make sure the lightening bugs could breathe. She would let us put our jars of lightening bugs on the bedside table in our rooms. We would giggle and watch them until we fell asleep. This is one of my favorite memories with my Grandmommy and Daddy Del. I miss my Grandmommy's laugh and also her cooking. I miss my Daddy Del's smile and his singing. I also miss catching lightening bugs! New Goal for the summer: go catch lightening bugs!!

what do you do?

What do you do? That is a tougher question than one might think. Like the ever popular, what do you want to do for dinner? so many options! Cook- what do you cook? what do you have? what do you need to buy? Or Go out- where do you go? pick it up? eat in? Phew! That is so tough! SO if that is tough, what do you do with the tough questions? Oh we all have our "Sunday School" answers. But for real, what do you do when you are asked to do something you really just don't want to do? what do you do when your "friends" aren't nice to you? what do you do when you see someone you love making terrible decisions and you have talked to them until you are blue, but get no response? what do you do? well I for sure don't have all the answers and never will, but I do know one answer for sure... I would rather go with God to see what He has in store for me in every situation I can think of, than to settle for what is comfortable!
